About

Nice to meet you!

Hi, I’m Dr Femke Ellens — a Dutch family doctor with a passion for personalised, practical, and human-centred care. I’m originally from the Netherlands and studied medicine at the University of Maastricht, where my journey in healthcare began with a strong academic foundation and a heart for people.

After graduating, I moved to Cyprus in 2004 and built a life and practice in the sunny city of Limassol. There, I founded my first primary care clinic, gained years of clinical experience, and also had the privilege of working as a medical doctor at several international sporting events.

In 2015, I was honoured to be accepted as an International Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) in the UK. This milestone deepened my evidence-based approach to family medicine and connected me with a global network of primary care professionals.

Today, I live in the beautiful coastal town of Castelldefels near Barcelona with my two daughters. We love the outdoors, road trips in our camper van, surfing, and spending time by the sea. My life here reflects my belief that wellbeing is more than the absence of illness — it’s about staying active, feeling well, and being able to enjoy the things that matter most.

As the founder of International Family Doctor, I combine all my experience into one mission: making high-quality, holistic healthcare accessible and comfortable for people of all ages — especially internationals living in Spain.

I speak Dutch, English, Spanish, and German. Every consultation I offer — whether online or in-person — is grounded in:

  • Taking the time to truly listen
  • Exploring lifestyle as a foundation for health
  • Personalised treatment that fits your life
  • Clear explanations and shared decision-making
  • Support, continuity, and trust

If you’re looking for a doctor who combines medical expertise with a human touch, I’d love to meet you.
